Liposuction Before And After
Helping You Deal with Liposuction-Before And After
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure, which involves removal of fat tissue from the patient’s body so that they can enjoy a nice and attractive appearance. There are two important phases of liposuction surgery, liposuction before and after.
Until Liposuction
Patients should take an entire physical examination before undergoing liposuction for calculating its suitability to them. All the prevailing medical conditions and medications should be accurately told to the doctor. After the doctor says that you can go ahead with liposuction, one should thoroughly research about all the aspects of this procedure by asking questions to the physician, reading books, health journals, websites and so on. The final decision should be based upon the combined consideration of this research and the surgery’s suitability for you.
Some antibiotics might be given to the patients by their physicians during liposuction before and after as well, for protecting them against possible post-surgical infections. The food and exercise aspects of the post-liposuction period should be properly understood before going for the surgery itself.
During liposuction surgeries, patients are given local anesthesia in the area where treatment is to be performed. Epinephrine and salt water is also injected along with anesthesia. This helps in reducing bleeding and firming up the skin. This combination is also termed as tumescent anesthesia. In hospitals, mostly general anesthesia is used. After the anesthesia is given, a pen-sized cannula is used for liposuction.
Post Liposuction
Depending upon the quantity of fat removal and surgery location, a patient may or may not leave the hospital or surgical center right after the procedure. Seek information from your doctor about the recovery period and its associated details. Fluids may leak out of the cuts wherein the cannula was inserted for several numbers of days. Drainage tube can come handy in dealing with this problem. Patients are required to wear tight garments for keeping the skin compressed. These garments may or may not be provided by the doctors.
One might experience some pain after the effect of anesthesia goes away, followed by a bit of swelling. This might remain for a couple of weeks so sometimes months as well. These signs should be taken seriously and treated in time for preventing infection.
Patients should not keep unreasonable expectations out of a liposuction procedure. Advertisements make this task even more difficult as they show pictures of beautiful men and women who have undergone liposuction. But one should always do proper analysis of liposuction, before and after as well.
